Art Appreciation Aids -Abstract When The Lights Went Out This is the first piece in The Blood Series and is about what was happening when it went dark while Jesus hung on the cross. It's an abstract so think about the feelings and impressions you have when you look at it. The first thing most people notice is how dark it is but as they look closer they begin to see it is full of colour and light. Reflect on how that is true about the cross and think about how it has been true in your own life. You may see images of things in the painting. That in itself usually isn't significant, but if you prayerfully dwell on them, God can use them to give you new thoughts -inspiration.
